The South Wales mining town of Tredegar has had two greyhound tracks in the past, the earliest being situated at the local recreation ground on Stable Lane. The ground was initially used for rugby until 1929 when speedway was brought to the town. By 1930 the speedway had stopped and it was decided to open a greyhound track. The independently run flapping track held its inaugural meeting on 10th July 1931. |

| Racing continued for 8 years, but the track closed prior to the outbreak of World War 2. It was to be 8 years before the town got another greyhound stadium called Jesmond Dene. The site on which the former track once stood has now reverted to a rugby pitch. |
